BOYCOTT DELTA!

This post comes to your from Atlanta, Georgia. Andrew and I just spent the most fun week with our great friends in Southern Florida. The beach daily, warm weather, everything you can just imagine and more, it was a blast.
Little did we know we wouldn't be making it home quite as we would like. We had a flight from Fort Lauderdale to Atlanta, and then another to Salt Lake. We were thrilled, Jack was behaving so well, acting just tired enough as we landed in Atlanta to assure he would sleep straight through to SLC and home! We even landed early, we thought sweet, we knew it would be a rush to get to our next gate in the second largest/ busiest airports in the U.S., and thought great we will have tons of time (I think I even thought, might as well grab some ice-cream).
Unfortunately, when we landed our gate was being used. We sat back, not worried, I mean come on we were early. Slowly the time ticked by, and we started to worry; Come on now who double books a gate? Summary: we got off the plane at the moment our next one took off. Now comes for the worst part... the ticket counter. As you enter this nice line you simply scan your ticket and tell you where the nice people at Delta have re-booked you to. Ours read this: 9:45 AM departure to NYC Kennedy Airport; 3:00 PM departure to SLC arriving 7:45 PM! Kindly they will also offer you a discounted hotel. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!?!!
We got in line where the lady kept saying we can't offer you anything else. "We cannot travel another 24 hours with a 20 month old!" is all we kept saying. Fortunately Delta has this nice thing that they get to blame the delay on Air Traffic Control, which means they are not liable. (aka: Screw You). After 10 minutes she says, "Okay I can get you to Denver by 10 and to SLC by noon". We jumped of course that would be better. I thought you didn't have anything else. Now we are in a hotel in Atlanta, that we paid for and get to wait another day to get home. All because Air Traffic Control messed up everything for Delta?
All in all, I am really not that upset. I am overly blessed: Jack has been so great, we actually can afford to go to be at this hotel where we can get some sleep (mostly jack), there is a gas station next door so we can get diapers without a taxi ride, etc. I mostly wanted to post this because I knew that even e-mailing Delta with a letter wouldn't do anything. All I can think is asking you all to join Drew and I in our boycott of Delta Airlines. That sounds silly now that it is down, but there it is.
Oh, and don't worry once we are home I'll post being happy and cheerful with many pictures from our fabulous trip!
Sorry this ended up being really long. Thanks!

First of all, I can't wait to see your pics from the trip!

Second of all, ARE YOU KIDDING ME????!!!! "We screwed up, so kindly spend your own money on a hotel that we have no idea if you can afford and wait until tomorrow NIGHT before you can get home."????!!!
Isaac flew with Southwest (also coming from Florida, maybe the state is cursed???) recently and they lost his bag with his insulin in it. He was freaking out because to buy a bottle of insulin without a prescription costs almost $100 dollars. They kept telling us, "Sorry. We hope it turns up. If it does we'll call you and you can come pick it up from the airport." They didn't even offer to ship it!! WE WERE FURIOUS. How did they know that we weren't driving 3 hours away and that driving back to pick up a bag for THEIR mistake wouldn't be a major hassle. I hate airlines. Maybe let's just boycott all of them.
p.s. Good luck on the flight tomorrow with Jack. Thank goodness he's been good so far!

Look on the bright side...at least you got a *discounted* hotel out of it, right? :) Flight delays/cancellations are the worst...*especially* when you get to spend your own money to wait for the next one. You should ask the air traffic controller to reimburse you.
